Most of the fitting is done with a rasp. It’s an iterative process—a little bit here, a littler bit there—till all surfaces are aligned and depth of fit achieved.

The sharp edge of a scraper is a great tool for flattening and angling the faces of the tenon.

At this stage of construction, I generally take the joint down to the depth shown.
